Senior Expert Council

IDFC PE has set up a Senior Expert Council (SEC) consisting of eminent individuals who have a track record of helping to create world-class infrastructure globally.

   

Ajit Kapadia

VICE-CHAIRMAN, CENTRE FOR FUEL STUDIES & RESEARCH

Mr. Ajit Kapadia was the first Director (Planning) on the Board of the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) during 1984 to 1987. From 1987 and until his retirement in 2004, he was with Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) where he established HOEC as one of the first private sector E&P companies in India to have the full range of technical capabilities. He continues to serve HOEC as Senior Adviser. In addition, he serves on several Boards as a non-Executive Director and is a member of CII’s Gujarat Energy Panel. In 2003, under the mentorship of Mr. Hasmukh Shah, he organised a non-profit, non-Government organisation - The Centre for Fuel Studies and Research - to analyze policy issues in hydrocarbon sector with a view to optimize energy resources.

Mr. Kapadia graduated with B.Sc. (Hons.) degree from Bombay University in 1960 and received an ME (Chemical) from the University of Louisville, Kentucky in 1963. Upon returning to India in 1971, he continued to work in the process design area with Engineers India Ltd (EIL), gaining exposure in petrochemicals, hydrocarbon refining and the gas processing industry.
