Cherian Thomas

GROUP HEAD-CAPACITY BUILIDING

Mr. Cherian Thomas is Head of IDFC's Public Private Partnership (PPP) Initiatives where he is responsible for the India PPP Capacity Building Trust and joint ventures with the governments of Karnataka and Uttarakhand. He was named to this post in 2005. Mr. Thomas has over 23 years of experience in consulting, project finance, corporate finance, investment banking and various other areas of banking.

Mr. Thomas' earlier role at IDFC was as Senior Director - Advisory Services. He has also held the position of Managing Director for Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) Limited and Vice President - Operations during which he set up and managed the Integrated Transportation Group of the Company. He is a Member of IDFC's Management Committee and a Director on various IDFC associate companies - iDeCK, U-DeC and DIMTS Limited. He is also Co-Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee of PHDCCI.

Prior to joining IDFC, Mr. Thomas worked with Tata Industries Limited, ICICI Limited, SCICI Limited and Citibank in corporate finance, project finance and banking.

Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Honors) and Masters in Management Studies in Finance from the University of Bombay, India.
