Investment description

Ashoka Highways (Bhandara) Limited (AHBL) is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), promoted by Ashoka Buildcon Limited (ABL) for the design, engineering, finance, construction, operation and maintenance of the Chhattisgarh/ Maharashtra border - Wainganga bridge section of National Highway 6, located in the state of Maharashtra. The project stretch is part of the busy East West Corridor and has been awarded by NHAI under the National Highway Development Programme Phase III.

The concession agreement for the project was awarded by NHAI to a consortium of ABL and IDFC in FY 2008, pursuant to a competitive bid process, for developing the stretch on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis for a concession period of 20 years. In October 2010, the project commenced tolling (for 72 kms out of the total stretch length of 80 kms).
