Investment description

ULA is a holding cum operating company for logistics infrastructure assets, a part of the J M Baxi Group (JMB), promoted by Mr Krishna Kotak & family. JMB is one of the oldest shipping and logistics firms in India providing shipping agency, stevedoring and other shipping support services to importers, exporters, ship owners & principals.  JMB has a strong presence in port development, terminal management and other freight logistics infrastructure through ULA and its subsidiaries.

ULA operates a container freight station near Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Mumbai, a container terminal with a capacity of 0.5 Mn TEUs at Vizag Port in a joint-venture with D P World and an inland container depot at Sonepat, Haryana. ULA also owns and operates a bulk jetty at Jamnagar, Gujarat with a capacity in excess of 1MMTPA and a license from Indian Railways to operate container trains across India. In FY2014, the Company cumulatively handled ~350,000 TEUs.

IIF's investment in ULA  will be used to further scale up ULA's existing facilities and for new identified projects. ULA augments IIF's diversified portfolio with mature and operating logistics infrastructure assets.
